SUMO: the first recorded
bout occured in 23B.C this match was won by a man named Sikune, who is
now the patron saint of all sumo wrestlers. the form increased in
popularity until in the 8th century A.D, the Emporor Shomu included it
in the harvest festival, and the winner was considered the champion of
Japan.
Sumo is one of the most
popular sports in Japan, the form requires combatants to be bulky, yet
light on their feet. The whole training of the Sumo is aimed at producing
a combination of weight and speed.
DINNIE: The Scottish highlands
version of Cumberland, invented by Donald Dinnie, as near as I can tell
anyway...heheh. The main difference in this style is, that the body grasp
start was abolished and when you threw your opponent, he had to be held
down for 30 seconds.
CUMBERLAND: Not a overly eye-grabbing style the old Cumberland, but perponents had to be fairly strong to master this style. Two oponents face each other a variation of the referee's hold in place, if this grip is broken except when a throw is in progress, this counts as a fall, other than that any part of a mans body that touches the ground(except his feet, duuhh) gives his opponent the fall. If both men fall the man on the bottom is the loser of that fall.
LUCHA LIBRE: In my opinion, the most eye popping style in the world, born and raised in mexico, very colorful, very acrobatic and highly addictive, if ya want more check my site out at
